Hello and welcome to our blog!

We have recently updated and refreshed our website and now we are celebrating the launch of our new Cathedrals Plus blog to encourage discussion and welcome visitors across the world! We hope you’ll join us in learning about and sharing our passion for sacred spaces.

The Cathedrals Plus network is a hub for those who are working in the UK’s Cathedrals, Abbeys, Minsters, Churches (all sizes), Shrines and Chapels of Christian denominations, to engage visitors and support learning in these remarkable places. In our blog, we will be sharing reflections and stories about our work, covering the sites’ histories, their heritage, their events and of course their meanings to us in faith, curiosity, and simply awe!

In addition to regularly sharing news stories, we will be posting a monthly blog written by one of our members, who will reflect on an aspect of their work for us to enjoy: about the building, the people, the treasures, the events, an encounter, or any aspect of their experience they’d like to share with us.

One of our member organisations has been in the global news recently and we are delighted that Laura Arends at Westminster Abbey in London has agreed to be our first guest blogger. Laura is Head of Learning at the Abbey and had a prime viewing spot for the coronation of King Charles III! Coming up next!

We are hoping to create a thriving community of supporters through our blog and we invite you to join our conversations. You do not have to be a member to subscribe to our blog or comment on our posts. If you do subscribe, you’ll receive an email alert each time we publish a new blog post – it is totally free and you can unsubscribe at any time. We look forward to reading your comments, suggestions, reviews and recommendations!

If you are working in a UK sacred space, as a volunteer or employed, in visitor engagement or education and learning, find out if your organisation is a member of Cathedrals Plus, and if not, why not join us? Explore our website to find out more about us and the benefits of membership.

If you have any queries about our website, the blog or our social media (note, we’re still developing our social media sites), you can contact me direct at sarah.page@cathedralsplus.org.uk

Thank you for joining us!

I am very much looking forward to reading the forthcoming blog posts, starting with one from Laura at Westminster Abbey.
It is very exciting to see our sacred spaces, which are still fundamental to the faith, fabric and future of communities in the UK and beyond, working together once again to meaningfully engage visitors, families and schools.
We are delighted to have members from Wales and Eire and look forward to contributions, blog posts and members from further afield….
